Introduction
We use the term information technology or IT to refer to an entire industry. In actuality, information technology is the use of computers and software to manage information. In some companies, this is referred to as Management Information Services (or MIS) or simply as Information Services (or IS). The information technology department of a large company would be responsible for storing information, protecting information, processing the information, transmitting the information as necessary, and later retrieving information as necessary.

Information Technology can be applied in various sectors such as in banking business, agriculture, health and medicine, railways, forensic science police wireless and even in the education sector.

- Network Engineer
A Network Engineer is involved in the design and maintenance of both the hardware and software necessary for a computer network. They are high level technical analysts with a specialty in Local Area Networks (LANs) or Wide Area Networks (WANs). - Network Administrator
A Network Administrator is a professional in charge of the maintenance of the computer hardware and software systems that make up a computer network. - System Administrator
System Administrators are responsible for maintaining the computer systems of a company. Server management is a primary responsibility, and a System Administrator would be responsible for installing, maintaining and upgrading servers - Database Administrator - DBA
Database Administrators use database software to store and manage information. They will often set up database systems and are responsible for making sure those systems operate efficiently. - CIO - Chief Information Officer
